Bavaria River Cruises

Bavaria in southeastern Germany is the country's largest state and home to beautiful landscapes. Some of the most picturesque regions lie along the famous Danube River that cuts through Bavaria. Historically significant cities, such as Nuremberg and Regensburg, sit on the banks of the Danube and their castles and church spires make for scenic backdrops. Exploring Bavaria on a cruise is a great way to see the many different sides of the area's natural beauty.
  1. Oktoberfest Escape

    • AMA Waterways offers an 11-day vacation that begins in Munich for the world-famous Oktoberfest. Guests spend two nights in the Bavarian capital and are escorted on a guided walking tour through the city.

After Munich, passengers transfer to Nuremberg. Here too, a city tour is provided before the cruise embarks. After a welcoming cocktail reception and dinner onboard, the ship traverses the Main-Danube Canal and sets off for the cities of Bamberg, Wuerzburg and Wertheim.

Passengers are treated to a walking tour of Bamberg and a tour of the Residenze Palace as well as the old city section in Wuerzburg. There is no set itinerary for Wertheim, so passengers are free to explore as they wish or simply relax on the ship.

The cruise leaves Bavaria after Wertheim and continues on to Miltenberg, Ruedesheim, the Rhine Valley, Cologne and disembarks in Amsterdam after a city tour and canal cruise.
