The Rhine River originates in Reichenau, Switzerland, and passes through Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, France and the Netherlands. Mini Rhine cruises mainly navigate within Germany and can last anywhere from a couple of hours to five days.

    Feature Nostalgic Route

    • The Feature Nostalgic Route is a one-day cruise operated by FD Fleets in Germany. It starts out in Koblenz, at 9 a.m. and returns at 8:10 p.m. The passenger ship is called the Goethe. Built in 1913, it is reminiscent of a historical steam engine boat, with spacious saloons that are decorated and furnished in the original Art Deco manner. The tour passes through the middle Rhine, offering scenic views of Koblenz, Niederlahnstein, Oberlahnstein, Rhens, Braubach, Boppard, Kamp-Bornhofen, St. Goarshausen, St. Goar, Oberwesel, Kaub, Bacharach, Assmannshausen and Bingen on the way to Rudesheim, where the ship docks for one hour before returning to Koblenz. There is a restaurant on board, although food and drinks are not included in the cruise fee. The information narration is offered in English unless otherwise specified. Management recommends that you book your trips early (at least 24 hours in advance), as spots are frequently sold out.

    Strasbourg-Koblenz-Strasbourg

    • The five-day Strasbourg-Koblenz-Strasbourg cruise is operated by Euro River Cruises and sets off from Strasbourg, France. Boarding is from 6 to 7 p.m. on the first day and includes an introduction to your cabin and crew and a welcome cocktail. Dinner follows on board, and you then have the opportunity to visit Strasbourg by riverboat before departing at 10 p.m. The cruise passes through many scenic towns and makes stops in the late afternoons or evenings in the German towns of Koblenz (day two), Rudesheim (day three) and Spire (day four). All breakfasts, lunches and dinners are served on board, although you can dine at the various dock towns as well. Day five brings you back to Strasbourg at 9 a.m. All meals, entertainment and port taxes are included in the cruise price. Drinks, coffee, insurance and other excursions are not included.
