How to Use Verizon on an Alaskan Cruise

If you are a Verizon Wireless cell phone user and are going on an Alaskan cruise, you will probably want to use your phone during the trip. Because the ship will cross international waters around Canada and the only cell towers are on board, you will need to activate Verizon's international services. Note that using your cell phone on the cruise will result in higher fees.

Press the plus-sign button before making any calls. While you are traveling through international waters, you will need to push the plus button and the country code, "1" in the United States. Then dial the phone number you are calling, including the area code.
