Founded in 1986, Yachts of Seabourn has four identical vessels in 2009, with another two scheduled for delivery by the summer of 2010. Cruises range from seven day-excursions to the Caribbean to 100-day adventures that let passengers sail around the world. Each boat only has room for 450 passengers in 255 cabins; about one-quarter the typical number of people who go on the larger Carnival cruises. Each vessel is 650 feet in length, costs $250 million to build and comes standard with a 12,000-square-foot spa and four restaurants with both indoor and outdoor seating. Yachts of Seabourn is based out of Miami, where most of its cruises start and end.
Some of the upgrades offered on a Yachts of Seabourn trip versus a non-luxury cruise are seen in the food and drink arena. The boat has four open bars and four open-seating restaurants that are available throughout the day. At least one night of the voyage is an outdoor BBQ gala with dancing on the deck. Water sports activities and a personal shopper also come standard on each vessel.
In the room, people can expect fine soaps by Hermes and L'Occitane; special bath amenities by Molton Brown and a Pure Pampering bath that each room's personal steward draws for the occupants. Plates of cheeses, wine and caviar are available for early evening delivery upon request. Also a complimentary full stocked mini-bar, flat screen televisions with cable and a DVD player, make for ultra-luxurious accommodations.
The staff is attentive, friendly and always willing to go the extra step to ensure patrons are pleased with everything. Yachts at Seabourn neither require tipping nor encourages it.
In 2009, the cost to board a Yachts of Seabourn boat ranged from $7,000 for a 7 night cruise to the Caribbean to upwards of $60,000 for a two-month trek to the Mediterranean.
While at sea, The Yachts of Seabourn offers many interactive adventures to keep passengers busy. Cooking lessons, card games and putt-putt golf are just some of the options. A state-of-the-art exercise facility with complimentary personal trainers allow for a quick workout, while waiters serving chilled champagne by the large Olympic-sized pool is a great way to unwind. Dancing is available every night, and first-run movies play on an outdoor projection screen while you watch with the wind in your hair.
