Norwegian Dawn Bermuda Tips

With the Statue of Liberty painted on its hull, the Norwegian Dawn sails round-trip from New York to Bermuda from April through October and becomes your floating hotel while you explore Bermuda's 120 islands situated 650 miles off the coast of North Carolina. Since the cost of living in Bermuda is four times higher than the U.S., a cruise is often the least expensive way to visit this destination.
  1. Docking

    • After two days at sea, Norwegian Dawn docks at Kings Wharf at the Royal Naval Dockyard for three days and two nights. Buses and ferries provide frequent transportation to the capital of Hamilton, the picturesque town of St. George's, and other parts of Bermuda.

    Shipboard Amenities

    • The casino and shops are not open while the ship is docked, and entertainment is offered on a limited basis. All shipboard amenities are open during the three days you spend at sea traveling to and from Bermuda.

    Cabin Amenities

    • All cabins have a soap dispenser and hair-dryer by the sink, as well as a shampoo and body-wash dispenser in the shower.

    Dress Code

    • The dress code is "Freestyle," which means casual at all times, but shirts are required after 5 p.m. The ship holds an optional "dress up or not" night in a designated dining room if you want to enjoy a formal evening.

    Dining

    • Norwegian Dawn features Freestyle Dining, which means you can eat in any of 12 restaurants with no fixed times or seating arrangements. The main dining rooms are no-reservation and no extra charge. Some of the optional restaurants are also free, and others require a reservation and charge a fee. You may reserve a table up to 48 hours in advance (72 hours if you're in a balcony cabin), but if a restaurant isn't busy, you may be able to get a table without a reservation. All restaurants are non-smoking. The ship also has nine bars and lounges.

    Laundry

    • The ship does not have self-service laundry facilities, but offers laundry and dry-cleaning for a fee.

    Soda Package

    • You may purchase a soda package for the entire cruise that includes a thermal container and unlimited refills of fountain drinks in any bar, lounge or restaurant.

    Wi-Fi

    • The ship offers Internet access only in the Internet Cafe for a fee unless you're in a Garden Villa or an AA-category cabin, where you can have a wired connection using your own Ethernet cable or one you rent onboard.

    Cell Phone Service

    • Call your wireless phone service provider to ensure you have International calling enabled on your phone so it will work on the ship and onshore in Bermuda, but be prepared for high roaming charges.
