A formal dinner with an enforced dress code is served nightly at Great Gatsby, the ship's main dining room. If you prefer a more casual evening, choose the Windjammer Cafe. Located on the sun deck, the cafe boasts floor-to-ceiling windows offering 270-degree views of the ocean and plenty of natural light. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet-style; table service begins with dinner. The Windjammer also offers fast-food -- think French fries, burgers, and pizza -- 24 hours a day. The Solarium Cafe, adjacent to the solarium swimming pool, offers light fare such as sandwiches, salads, soups and burgers under a domed glass roof. Room service, for a fee, is available around the clock, too.
Grandeur of the Seas offers many ways to be active while aboard, and since food service on the ship generally consists of all-you-can-eat buffets, large meals and 24/7 availability, it's a good idea to get your heart rate pumping. Grandeur has an outdoor jogging track, a rock-climbing wall, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a fitness center with updated equipment. Finish up your workout in one of the ship's six whirlpools, or at the full-service spa.
Leaving port at the start of the cruise and at the conclusion of port stops is an exciting time on Grandeur. Crowds gather on board to watch the port recede from view as the ship eases out into the sea. One of the best spots for launch is the top deck, in the outdoor pool area. The deck's height gives you a generous view of both the ship and the port. The pool area has a bar, so grab a cocktail and watch the shore fade into the distance.
