Pack an extra bathing suit. One of the exciting features of Freedom of the Seas is the availability of water activities. H2O Zone is unlike any other cruise play area. There are water cannons, a water slide and even a lazy river. Make sure you check out H2O Zone at night, once the lights have been turned on. Freedom of the Seas also offers a dedicated sports pool, featuring activities such as water basketball, volleyball and synchronized swimming. The main pool is made for relaxing. You can also relax in a hot tub or try your skill at boogie boarding on the Flowrider.
Make sure you take advantage of the dry activities as well. Freedom of the Seas has so much to do that it will be hard to get it all in on one trip. Most people don't expect to find a boxing ring on a cruise ship, but you will on Freedom of the Seas. Passengers can take individual or group boxing lessons for an additional cost. There also a rock climbing wall operated by trained professionals. You can ice skate in the on-board rink. There's also a nine-hole miniature golf course and a full basketball court. At night you can try your hand at karaoke, which features green screen technology so you'll feel like you're in a music video.
Here are a few things to keep in mind. Since Freedom of the Seas is one of the largest cruise ships in the world, you'll be doing a lot of walking. Make sure you pack comfortable shoes and wear them while making your way across the ship. Also pack something nice, Royal Caribbean has three different classes for dining; casual, smart casual and formal. Suggested formal dining attire is suits or tuxedos for men and cocktail dresses for women. Also remember that extra expenses add up quickly. Meals and many activities are included in the price of the cruise, but special restaurants, spa treatments and even Ben and Jerry's ice cream will all cost extra.
