The Freedom of the Seas and Navigator of the Seas are large luxury cruise vessels that are a part of the Royal Caribbean International line. These massive ships accommodate thousands of passengers and crew members with activities, live and multimedia entertainment, fine cuisine, and quarters for the length of the ship's journey. Where these ships differ is their activities, entertainment and size.
  1. Freedom of the Seas Capacity

    • The Freedom of the Seas is a massive cruise vessel, accommodating 4,300 passengers and 1,300 crew members. It is 1,100 feet long, with a maximum cruising speed of 22.5 knots. A knot is equal to about 1.15 miles per hour, meaning the ships literally cruises along the ocean at about 25 miles per hour on land. The weight of the ship is over 160,000 tons, and 14 decks with rooms to accommodate its passengers. The Freedom of the Seas has an on-site movie theater that seats 1,300 people, and a conference room that can seat up to 400 people.

    Navigator of the Seas Capacity

    • The Navigator of the Seas cruise ship is smaller than the Freedom, with accommodations for 3,800 passengers and 1,100 crew members. It is about 1,000 feet in length, and weighs about 140,000 tons. The Navigator of the Seas travels at the same speed as Freedom of the Seas, which is a maximum of 22.5 knots. It has the same conference room accommodations as the Freedom of the Seas.

    Freedom of the Seas Entertainment

    • The Freedom of the Seas is a newer ship than the Navigator, sailing its maiden voyage in 2006. It has two restaurants, as well as offering cooking classes. This luxury liner also has multiple forms of sport activities and entertainments, such as table tennis and basketball, karaoke, and lessons for either ice skating or salsa dancing. The ship has an ice skating rink, movie theater, and video game arcade.

    Navigator of the Seas Entertainment

    • The Navigator of the Seas made its maiden voyage in 2003. It also has multiple forms of sport activities, eating establishments and entertainment. The Navigator has an ice skating rink as well as accommodations for in-line skating. It has a full-sized basketball court, rock climbing wall, miniature golf course, and a golf-simulator. Passengers can enjoy a glass of wine at the wine bar. The luxury cruise also has a casino and fitness spa.
