Often, one of the colors is white (or sometimes black), and the other color is a bright eye-catching hue, such as neon green, blue, yellow, or pink. Sometimes the design is called a nova check, houndstooth, or even a gingham, if the lines only overlap and do not cross (forming squares instead of diamonds).
