The San Diego Trolley has Blue, Orange and Green lines serving historic Old Town, Mission Valley, Fashion Valley, Petco Park, and Qualcomm Stadium. The trolleys, part of the Metropolitan Transit System, require exact fare. Every weekend is Family Weekend on the trolleys: two children 12 and under ride free with any paying adult passenger. The trolleys also have holiday Friends Ride Free specials on Memorial Day, Independence Day Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, where each paying passenger can bring someone free.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, or MUNI, as it is called, runs trolley buses, historic streetcars and cable cars for pollution-free public transportation in this eco-conscious city. MUNI has 333 trolleys that travel throughout the city, along with 26 streetcars and 40 cable cars. You can get a discounted monthly pass, or a MUNI Passport for one day, three consecutive days or seven consecutive days on the trolleys; cable car rides are not included.
The Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority runs a downtown trolley in Oklahoma City. Since July 1, 2010, Platt College has sponsored free rides to all on the trolley, but this runs out July 1, 2011. The trolley operates daily, except on major holidays, to Bricktown, Santa Fe Plaza, the Downtown Transit Center and Oklahoma River Cruises. You can also get to the OKC Museum of Art, OKC National Memorial and Red Earth Museum.
Island Transit, in the city of Galveston, Texas, has rail trolley service for Seawall Boulevard, 25th Street, downtown Galveston, Galveston Wharf, the University of Texas Medical Branch and the historic Strand District. Hurricane Ike damaged some trolley tracks and switches, but the service still operates. Trolley fares must be paid with exact change, and you can get a discounted fare with a bus transfer.
