Use the Milano subway website to view the timetable, or schedule, for the Milano Metro. You can view it in English on the website. You can also pick up timetables at any of the subway stations and some hotels. You will also find a Milano Metro map on the website.
Buy your Metro ticket to ride the Milano subway. Ticket machines are in all of the stations and operate 24 hours a day. If you have problems with the machine you can also purchase a one-ride ticket from the newspaper vendor by asking for "un biglietto." As of May 2010, you will need €1.00 for a single journey ticket.
Proceed into the subway station with your ticket by approaching one of the machines with the green arrow on the front. Put your ticket in the front and it will spit it out at the top of the machine. Take your ticket and you will be able to pass through the machine to make your way to the subway train.
Go towards the signs that point to the Milano Metro line that you want to ride. The lines are colored and the colors correspond to the routes on the subway map. Lines go in two directions and are labeled according to the next stop in that direction. Milano Metro has color-coordinated guide rails. For example, if you want the yellow line, follow the yellow guide rail. Consult your map if you are not sure which subway train to board.
