How to Use the Las Vegas Monorail System

Anyone who has visited the Las Vegas Strip knows you can spend a lot of time walking from one casino to the next. Using the Las Vegas Monorail is a way to get from one end of the strip to the other in air-conditioned comfort without traffic worries. It is a driverless rail system that runs along the east-side of the Las Vegas Strip from the Sahara Hotel to the MGM Grand, stopping at the Las Vegas Convention Center and four other hotels along the way.

Instructions

      Begin your ride at any of the seven stations located along the Strip. Stations are located at the back of the resorts; just follow the signs.

      Purchase a ticket at the monorail stations, various locations within the station resort properties, the Las Vegas convention center or in advance online.

      Insert the ticket into the opening at the fare gate, remove ticket from the opening at the top of the gate and walk through when it opens. Stand on the platform and wait for the train to arrive.

      Use the MGM Grand station for easy access to many hotels, including Monte Carlo, New York New York, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay and the Tropicana. Exit at the northern end of the station.

      Hop off at the Bally's/Paris station located in Bally's resort with access to Paris Las Vegas next door. The Bellagio resort is conveniently located directly across the strip.

      Stop at the Harrah's/Imperial Palace station located between the two hotels to reach other nearby casino resorts including The Venetian next door or The Mirage and Treasure Island across the strip.

      Reach the end of the line at Sahara and choose to get off and visit nearby Circus Circus or stay on the monorail as it heads back south again.
