Do some research before you relocate to Las Vegas. Write some questions down: What Las Vegas neighborhood is safe and affordable? What Las Vegas publications are available? What’s the best moving company to use? What’s the best way to travel to Las Vegas? Research where you intend to live. Make sure that it’s within distance to your work location, the night life and to important places like the hospital (see Resources below).
Generate your “Relocate to Las Vegas” plan. Type a phone number list, and create a Las Vegas-related website list. Take stock of your belongings. Ask yourself these questions: What will I take? What will I sell or give away? Will I drive, or will I ship my car?
Make sure that you have a Las Vegas destination home, or apartment, prior to moving there. Talk to friends and family living in Las Vegas, if you have any. See if you could stay with them while you house-hunt there. Ask them if they’ll also room you while you’re waiting for your household goods. Return to your old home to implement the rest of your relocation plan.
Contact the moving company and schedule your move to Las Vegas. Decide what you’re taking with you if you’re going by car. Let the packers pack everything else. Be present to make sure your household goods are all loaded without incident (see Resources below).
Go to Las Vegas. Have your friends meet you at the airport if you’re flying there. Give them heads up about your arrival time if you’re driving. Make sure that your Las Vegas dwelling is ready for move in. Prepare for your household goods to arrive.
