How to Enjoy Las Vegas on a Budget

Las Vegas is a favorite of vacationers from all over the world. The city in the desert is an adult fantasy land with gambling, fine restaurants, world-class shopping, golf and hot, dry weather. It can also be one of the most affordable destinations, if you know where to look. Here's how to enjoy Las Vegas without spending a fortune.

Instructions

    • 1

Travel mid-week. Hotel rates are generally lower if you stay in Las Vegas between Monday and Friday--sometimes dramatically so. Save even more by avoiding the prime convention months of October, November, March and April.

    • 2

Dine at the buffets. Food is plentiful and often inexpensive in Las Vegas. Most of the large resorts and casinos offer a buffet with a variety of foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. These are often very attractively priced.

    • 3

Take advantage of the freebies. Freebies abound in Las Vegas...if you know where to look. Most casinos offer coupon booklets if you ask for them. These offer such things as two-for-one drink specials, free match play in the casino and even free food. In addition, make sure to sign up for the casino's player's club program. Even a moderate gambler can accrue free meals, gifts and even rooms.

View the free attractions. Las Vegas offers a number of free attractions, such as the dancing fountains in front of the Bellagio Hotel, the Fremont Street Experience, the Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand Hotel and Sirens of TI outdoor theater at the Treasure Island Resort.

Stay off of the Strip. Staying just one or two block away from the Las Vegas Strip can save you a bundle. Most of these hotels make it easy to get to the Strip for restaurants, shopping and gambling with frequent, free shuttles.
