Travelers arriving at Rome's Fiumicino Airport can take the express train to Termini. The train, operated by Trenitalia, takes under 30 minutes and costs 11 euros per person, with children under 12 riding free. Trains to Termini depart the airport at 5 minutes and 35 minutes past the hour. Travelers should follow the signs to the train from their airport terminal and buy tickets at the electronic kiosks near the platforms. The train is safe, clean and air-conditioned.
Reach Termini on foot. Rome is a large city, but is relatively easy to navigate on foot. Termini is located in the Repubblica neighborhood of Rome, and is easily reached on foot from Esquilino, Marsala and some parts of the Colosseo neighborhoods. If you are carrying large amounts of luggage, this option is not advisable because of the rough cobblestone streets.
Take public transportation. Termini serves as the central station for Rome's public bus system, and is quite easy to reach by bus; almost all buses pass through Termini at one point on their route. A useful bus is the 40 Express, which goes by St. Peters, the Piazza Venezia, Largo Argentina and Termini. Buy your ticket at electronic kiosks near the bus stops, and be sure to validate it in the yellow machines as you board the bus.
Take the Metro. Rome's subway system, called the Metro, is a good way to get to Termini, but it has less coverage than the bus system. All trains originate at Termini, so to reach the station, simply board a Termini-bound train at your nearest Metro stop. You will be required to buy a ticket before boarding the subway, and must insert it at the ticket stiles before entering the platform. The Metro is safe, but watch your belongings during crowded times to avoid pickpocketing or petty theft.
