Go to amtrak.com or your nearest Amtrak station to book a ticket to Toronto.
Select your departure station and then select Toronto as your arrival station.
Select the dates of travel and search for available fares. Routes across the U.S. will take you to New York, where you can connect to the Maple Leaf line in New York City, Albany or Buffalo.
Purchase tickets with a credit card and have them delivered to your home before you travel or pick them up at the station before your departure.
Bring your passport. You will need to show this at the border crossing into Canada at Niagara Falls.
Visit viarail.ca, call their reservation line or go to your nearest station to book tickets.
Select your route to Toronto. Routes are available from Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal, Windsor, Sarnia, London, Kingston and Niagara Falls. An international route is also available from New York City.
Enter the dates of your departure and return as well as your departure city, if it is not one of the major cities listed.
Click "search" to find fares and select your class and route.
Bring your passport if you are traveling on the route from New York City, as you will be asked to show it when entering Canada in Niagara Falls.
