Decide when you are most comfortable purchasing train tickets: months ahead of time, at the station before your journey or on the train.
Book your tickets online via the official BritRail Web site or buy them from any station agent in the United Kingdom. You can also call the BritRail toll-free hotline for booking assistance at (866) BRITRAIL. You can also book train travel from Cambridge to Liverpool by calling Rail Europe at (888) 382-RAIL or by visiting the link below.
Make your way to the station in Cambridge which is, naturally, on Station Street.
Head straight to Liverpool, via a number of connections, or you can choose to stop and sightsee along the way.
Arrive early to ensure that you get a seat. Some trains can be overly crowded, and if you travel during commute hours, you may find yourself standing during some of the busier legs of the trip.
Check current timetables to ensure that you can make all of your connections.
Arrive at Liverpool's Lime Street Station.
Make the train connections on whichever route you book with caution, as British trains don't stay in any one station for more than a few minutes.
Grab a bite at one of the station's two cafes or a libation at the bar. You'll even find a Burger King at the station.
