A Class C motorhome is considered a mini version of larger recreational vehicles (RVs). They are typically a truck, or van, front portion with a large body extending behind and just above the driving area.
Most commonly, Class C motorhomes are best supported with a cutaway van chassis. Instead of building the motorhome as one large block unit, like the Class A, the Class C uses a van or pickup truck front end attached to a strong chassis rear. The living space of the motorhome is then built on the chassis, creating a strong assembly to withstand the movement of long travel days.
Compared to other motorhome construction supports, Class C motorhomes have the advantage of being safer in an accident, due to their front end construction.
