How to Clean a Toilet in a Travel Trailer

Travel trailers can be towed behind your vehicle to provide a cheap place to sleep and rest while on a road trip or a camping getaway. They are great for enjoying the outdoors while still having some of the conveniences of home. For example, most travel trailers include a toilet. While this is a great luxury to have while camping, if you don't have the proper tools and knowledge to clean it, you might not find it to be such a luxury after all.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a liquid toilet cleaner, such as Lysol, white vinegar and baking soda. Look for a liquid toilet cleaner that can get rid of odors, break down solids and reduce gas formation.

    • 2

Pour the liquid toilet cleaner into the toilet, being sure to coat all the edges. Scrub the inside of the toilet until all stains have been removed. Rinse the bowl with water using either a bucket or by flushing, depending on the type of toilet you have.

    • 3

Pour approximately 1/3 cup of white vinegar inside the travel trailer toilet.

    • 4

Sprinkle a teaspoon of baking soda inside of the bowl. Make sure to add enough so that the mixture of vinegar and baking soda starts to fizzle. Use a spray bottle with white vinegar to spray the sides of the bowl.

    • 5

Use the toilet brush to thoroughly scrub the inside of the travel trailer toilet. Once you've scrubbed all the inside surfaces, rinse the toilet with a bucket of water or by flushing.
