Who is the Greek god Boreas?
In Greek mythology, Boreas (Greek: Βορέας) is the god of the north wind and of winter. One of the four Anemoi (wind gods), Boreas is depicted as either winged or as a bearded man and is often associated with flying horses and the snowstorms of winter. While generally shown fierce, he is also linked with the gentler onset of winter and the promise of spring. Boreas was born to Astraeus, the Titan god of dusk and the stars, and Eos, the Titan goddess of the dawn. Along with his brothers—Eurus (east wind), Notus (south wind), and Zephyrus (west wind)—Boreas lived in a cave in Thrace, at the edge of the known world.
