Three Types of Ground Effect Vehicles

Ground effect vehicles (GEV), or wing-in-ground (WIG) vehicles, are hybrids between marine vessels and aircraft and are able to fly just above the surface of the earth or sea. This is possible due to the aerodynamic effect operating between the wings and the ground or sea surface. The altitude they are able to attain is mainly determined by the wingspan. Most GEVs are lightweight, relatively small, easy to maneuver and economical to operate and own, but they are fairly expensive to buy.
