What is smallest animal?
The smallest known animal species on Earth is the Etruscan shrew (Suncus etruscus), weighing a mere 1.8 to 2.5 grams (0.06–0.09 oz) and measuring around 3.5 to 4.8 cm (1.4–1.9 inches) in length, without counting its 2.5 cm (1.0 in) long tail. Found only in parts of Italy, Sicily and Sardinia, this mouse-like creature holds the record for being the world’s smallest mammal, and shares the distinction of being one of the smallest vertebrates with the Paedocypris fish.
