Place the step ladder next the plane's wings. Have an assistant stand at the opposite wing and take the length and width of the plane's wings. Include the cabin in the measurements.
Spread the nylon material on a cutting board and mark the measurements of the wings and add four inches to each side of the dimensions. For example, if the combined wing length is 12 feet by 4 feet, cut the canopy blank 11 feet, 4 inches-by-4 feet, 4 inches.
Cut the bungee cord so it is three feet shorter than the combined wing canopy fabric edge. For example, if the combined total of the four sides equals 32 feet, cut the bungee at 29 feet. Hold the cut ends under a lighter flame to melt the cord and prevent frays.
Fold the edge of the canopy at two inches so it forms a seam. Place the bungee under the seam and sew the seam together, enclosing the bungee cord into the fabric-seam. Pull the ends out and attach the quick clips.
Load the snap tool with the metal grommets and place a grommet every 12 inches along the edge of the canopy.
Stretch the canopy over the wings and tighten it to the wing via the quick clips on the bungees. Cinch the bungee to secure the canopy tightly to the wings. Use the grommets to tie the canopy to the tarmac tie down chains, thus securing it to the aircraft further.
