How to Make a Makeshift RV Canopy

Vacationers often travel the country with the use of a recreational vehicle. These RVs equip the traveler with everything he will need to live comfortably away from home. A canopy allows RV dwellers to utilize the space next to the RV while keeping out of the elements. In order to enjoy time outdoors, travelers may desire to learn how to make a makeshift RV canopy. If your RV does not come equipped with a canopy already installed, you can make your own.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase two freestanding poles. The length of the poles should equal about three-quarters the height of your RV. This proportion will allow adequate sun and rain protection while under the canopy.

    • 2

Use a plastic tarp as the canopy. Purchase a tarp as large as you desire your canopy to be.

    • 3

Attach magnetic hooks to the top of the RV and the poles. Most plastic tarps feature holes in the corners of the tarp to make securing it easier.

    • 4

Secure the tarp by feeding the hooks through the holes on the tarp. Once you secure all four corners you have completed your makeshift RV canopy.
