How to Make a Travel Flier

The purpose of a travel flier should be to present a destination in the most appealing manner possible. As people consider traveling they will seek vital information to plan the trip. A travel flier contains the essential details needed for someone to decide to travel to that particular place. The material may be printed on both sides of the flier. However, the flier probably will not contain all of the data necessary to make travel arrangements. Conversely, a travel flier is more suitable for inspiring a person to explore traveling to a certain place.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a program to make the flier such as Microsoft Word. Create a new blank document. Decide the general layout of the page. For example: photos at the top, tourist attractions to the right of the photos, destination details below the photos and travel arrangements beneath that. Using inserted images and text boxes will allow you to move content around the page and exactly where desired.

    • 2

Insert an image where desired on the page. Adjust the size of the image by clicking on a corner of it. Repeat the process to add additional photos. Be sure that the photos showcase the most appealing places, scenery and things. Arrange the photos in a way that is visually interesting---leading readers to keep looking at the entire flier. Images are absolutely essential for a travel flier. At first glance, people can be enticed by a photo of a destination and desire to go there. Use colorful photos of crisp, sharp images.

Insert a text box below each photo. Write a caption to help tell a story. Explain who or what is in the photo. Build excitement in the caption text. Mention something noteworthy, fascinating or out of the ordinary about every photo. Make it brief yet descriptive. You may even want to include a famous travel quote.

Insert a text box. Write a section heading such as "Attractions." Add text about the destination. Popular destinations have some type of attraction that encourages people to travel there. It can be beautiful scenery, leisure activities, exciting entertainment or interesting things to do. Talk up any activities, shows, concerts, restaurants, museums, theme parks, luxury spots or any other attractions in the flier. For example: hiking up Mount Everest, skiing on the Swiss Alps, touring the pyramids in Egypt or snorkeling in Maui. Many cities have a visitor center to guide tourists to the places, activities and attractions they seek. If there is a visitor center at the destination, provide the name and address of it.

Insert a new text box. Write a section heading like "Destination Info." Add text about the destination. Mention some information related to the history of the location. Name a few interesting historic events that took place there. Also offer places that provide accommodations to travelers such as villas, hotels or resorts. Present amusing location facts to keep the reader's attention. For instance: If any celebrities are known to travel to that area reveal that fact in the flier. Give fine points of what travelers can expect to encounter there. Tell people what the weather is like. Particularly if the climate is consistent, include the average temperatures for each season. This is helpful because travelers will know what clothing to pack and how to dress for the location.

Insert a new text box. Write a section heading like "Travel Arrangements." Add text about travel arrangements. Include suggestions of the airlines that travel to the location. For instance: Jamaica Air for trips to Jamaica or Korean Air for flights to Korea. Travelers will want to know how they are going to get to the destination and how to get around once there. For cruises, mention a few cruise lines for travelers to take. Additionally, give information on transportation options upon arrival such as taxis, rental cars and bicycles. Since a travel flier can only hold a certain amount of content, you may want to add a link to an article providing more specific travel information for travelers and vacationers.

Save the final version of the travel flier to the hard drive of the computer. Also save the file as a PDF if the printing will be done by a print shop. Print the flier in color on a premium paper. A semi-gloss paper works well for travel fliers.
