What does the giant drop mean?

The Giant Drop (or simply called as drop tower or gyro drop ride) are amusement park rides consisting of a vertical tower with gondola carrying multiple riders ( usually seated in a circular car ).

* The gondola is first winched to the top and released, free falling downward before quickly decelerating with the aid of magnetic or hydraulic brakes that safely slows the descent to avoid sudden impact from its own weight. These rides provide riders with the extreme thrill by giving a brief period of weightlessness at the beginning their descent (or free fall ).

* Riders have to be safely restrained with both a over the shoulder or a lap bar restraint to prevent injuries. Some drop towers may require a height or age restricion due to its extreme high acceleration during its rapid ascent or descent that may risk some individual's tolerance. For those who get easily injured or sensitive to motion sickness and high stress scenarios are usually suggested not to partake on extreme rides including drop towers to prevent adverse physical reactions or complications.
