How did Pyramid come by its name?
The word "pyramid" comes from the Greek word _pyramis_ which, in turn, comes from the Egyptian word _pr-m(w)s_, meaning "lofty" or "tall". The ancient Egyptians used the term to describe the shape of the pyramids, which were towering structures built as tombs for their pharaohs. The word _pyramis_ was first used in the 5th century BC by the Greek historian Herodotus, who visited Egypt and described the pyramids in his writings. The word _pyramid_ has since been adopted into English and other languages to refer to these ancient structures.
