- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have a valid driver's license
- Be able to pass a physical and drug test
- Have no criminal record
Once you have met the requirements, you can apply for an apprenticeship with the Elevator Constructors Union Local 50. The apprenticeship program consists of four years of on-the-job training and classroom instruction. Once you have completed the apprenticeship program, you will become a journeyman elevator constructor.
As a journeyman elevator constructor, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing elevators. You will work on a variety of projects, including residential buildings, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities. You will also have the opportunity to work with a variety of tools and equipment.
