What is the Brooklyn span?
The Brooklyn Span is a 1,595.5-foot (486.3 m) suspension bridge in New York City, also known as the Brooklyn Bridge. Opened in 1883, it was the first steel-wire suspension bridge constructed. It spans the East River between the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn, thus giving rise to its name. The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest existing suspension bridges in the United States and is considered an iconic landmark of New York City.
