Scenic Train Trips in South Carolina

When you see the South Carolina countryside by train, you see why South Carolinians proudly call the "Palmetto State" their home. South Carolina was the first in railroad history to have a regularly-scheduled steam train pulled by a locomotive. The locomotive was known as the "Best Friend" and began operating in Charleston in 1831. Located south of Winnsboro, South Carolina, The South Carolina Railroad Museum is an important tourist destination for admirers of the American Railroad.
