Why didnt the decision in munn v Lliois case succeed checking power of railroad?
The decision in the Munn v. Illinois case did succeed in checking the power of railroads, but it was later overturned by the Supreme Court in the Wabash, St. Louis & Pacific Railway Co. v. Illinois (1886) case. In Munn v. Illinois, the Supreme Court ruled that states had the authority to regulate railroad rates, but in Wabash, the Court ruled that states could not regulate interstate commerce, which included railroad rates. This decision significantly limited the ability of states to regulate railroads and effectively checked their power.
