Drive or take the train. There are many travel options available, but the easiest is probably by car. However, with rising fuel costs and parking expenses, it isn't the most economical way of travel. The fastest way, other than flying, is by train. Amtrak has a reliable Boston-to-Washington D.C. line that lets you off right at grand central station in New York. However, taking the train can also be expensive. Plan ahead because the earlier you book your train, the lowers your price.
Go Greyhound. Greyhound has always had a popular bus line from New York to Boston, but it can also be expensive. Watch out for deals because sometimes Greyhound offers $15 specials. However, Greyhound takes many stops in Connecticut, so the journey can take almost six hours.
Try other bus lines. The Fung Wah and Lucky Star buses have been around for a couple of years, and since they only cost $15 each way, it is a really affordable way to travel between New York City and Boston. However, the Fung Wah bus isn't the safest or most reliable form of transportation. Riding the Fung Wah is an adventure because you never if you will reach your destination on time and safely.
Don't fret. The world of inexpensive bus travel doesn't have to be a risk because a couple of really inexpensive luxury bus liners arrived on the Boston to New York scene in 2007. Bolt bus and Europe's Mega Bus offer customers free wi-fi on the bus and faster non-stop service between Boston and New York. Both companies offer seats for as low as $1 when you buy them in advance. However, you can still get seats for $6 each way even a couple of days before you travel.
