Don't get too comfortable on the ferry, as the trip usually takes less than an hour.
Rent a car and book travel aboard a car ferry, several of which depart from the Peloponnese en route to Poros Island during the summer.
Know your destination. Located on the south side of the Saronic Gulf, Poros is approximately 30 miles outside of Piraus (just south of Athens) and is a stone's throw from the Peloponnese periphery of Greece.
Enjoy two for the price of one. The area of Poros actually is comprised of the two islands of Kalaureia and Sphairia, both of which are accessible via bridge.
Get to know the local terrain. Like many in the area, the southern island known as Spharia was once a volcano but is now host to a bustling modern city.
