How to Book Train Travel From Oslo to Dombas

Dombas is a lovely town in the mountains of central Norway in the Oppland region, a mecca for spring and summer hikers who trek from one to another of a series of mountain huts (hyttes). Should you be inclined to try some Norwegian mountain hiking or just want to enjoy the ambience of a beautiful small Norwegian town, you can easily reach Dombas by train from Oslo.

      To book accommodations, contact Norwegian State Railways at 011 (+47) 815 00 888 or visit their Web site (see Resources, below). Select the date and time you would like to travel and whether or not you would like a return journey.

      Book travel for an individual, group or family. Dombas is a popular destination for families who like to hike together, so you may want to consider booking group travel.

      Choose an economy class (Ordinær) seat, as first-class seats are not offered on the Oslo to Dombas route. Your seat will be perfectly comfortable for the duration of the 4 to 5 hour ride, so you need not worry!

      Get to the train station in Oslo at least ½ hour before your train departs to pick up your ticket to Dombas. Make sure you are in line to get on the train early and avoid being jostled by all of the backpacks and hiking gear.
