How to Book Train Travel From Oslo to Mosjoen

Mosjoen is a charming town situated at the head of Vefnsfjord in North Norway. The train trip from Oslo to Mosjoen takes 13 to 14 hours, but it goes through some of Norway's loveliest mountains and passes by fjords right up into the heart of the rugged, somewhat isolated, north.

Instructions

    • 1

To book accommodations, contact Norwegian State Railways at 011 (+47) 815 00 888 or visit their Web site (see Resources, below). Enter 'Oslo' in the 'From' field and 'Mosjoen' in the 'To' field. Choose a date and time to start your trip, and book a return trip at this time should you need one.

    • 2

Decide whether you'd like to travel economy class (Ordinær) or first class (KOMFORT), and whether you wish to book a sleeper berth. The berth costs a bit more, of course, but if you can afford the expense it will be a lot easier than trying to sleep sitting up (and remember, the trip from Oslo to Mosjoen takes more than 13 hours to complete).

    • 3

Enter payment and contact information (you have a choice of using your Visa, Mastercard, Diner's Club Card or American Express--they do not take Discover).

    • 4

Collect your ticket to Mosjoen at any Norwegian State Railways (NSB) station from a ticket vendor or an automatic ticket machine. You may also choose to collect your ticket on the train, but this may present problems if you have chosen a train that requires a ticket before boarding.
