Contact a rail shipping service or an oversized vehicle shipping service and give them your information to obtain a quote. You will need to tell the service the height, width and weight of your cement mixer, where it is being shipped from and where it is being shipped to. If you are contacting a rail shipping service, ask whether they can handle oversized loads, such as cement mixers. If you are contacting an oversized vehicle shipping service, ask them whether they are able to load your cement mixer body onto a train.
Set a timetable for shipping the cement mixer. If the chosen company does not have an office in your area, often they will have a partner that can manage your shipment. If the pickup location is near your facility, you may be able to drive the mixer truck there. In some cases, you may need to arrange for a large truck to haul your cement mixer to the rail yard. The rail shipping company may be able to do this, or you may have to contact a separate oversized shipping service. If the drop-off rail station is far from the final destination, you also will need to arrange for a service to pick up and deliver the mixer body.
Fill out the paperwork at the rail station, and offer any special instructions about handling the equipment to the agents. The body will need to be lifted from the truck via crane, so you will need to be on hand to detach the body and instruct the agents in tying it down securely.
Drive or fly to the destination, or contact your partners at the destination about the cement mixer's projected time of arrival. Someone should be on hand to offer instructions on unloading the mixer.
