Call Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL or visit Amtrak's web site in the "Resources" section below. On the web site, you can book your train reservations via Amtrak's Fare Finder. You can also navigate the site if you have a PDA, Blackberry or other handheld device.
If you ordered your tickets online or by phone, pick them up at a ticket agent or at one of the Quik-Trak kiosks that can be found at many Amtrak locations (you'll need to enter your reservation number). If you've booked your trip far in advance, you can also request that your tickets be mailed to you.
Amtrak offers just one daily train from Auburn to Sacramento; the rest of its service consists of thruway buses. Your ride from Auburn to Sacramento on a thruway bus will take just a few minutes longer than traveling by train (which takes about an hour)..
Amtrak does not provide a dining car for this relatively short trip. However, a snack car is available on the train, offering takeout-style food like pizza and sandwiches.
Travel around in Sacramento by foot. It's free, and many attractions are within walking distance of the train station.
Rent a car to get around at your convenience. There are many rental car companies from which to choose.
Take a taxi to your destination. You'll be charged a flat rate for the first mile and a reduced fee for every additional mile.
Avail yourself of Sacramento's light transit and bus lines, which will convey you around the city for a reasonable fare.
