Purchase your tickets at the train station in Slovakia. You can purchase tickets at any train station whose office is marked with 'KVC,' which stands for 'komplexne vybavenie cestujucich' in Slovak.
Buy a Eurail Selectpass to travel in Romania and two bordering countries. Your Eurail Selectpass provides unlimited travel for a specified period of time and is available from Rail Europe.
Mention your age when booking your train travel. There are discounts for travelers under the age of 26 and over the age of 65.
Travel with another person for discounts on your travel. Check when you are booking through your agent, especially if you plan to travel with a Select Pass. You may be eligible for a Selectpass Saver with lower rates (see Rail Europe website for details).
Take the train from Bratislava to Bucharest. It takes 14 hours, so be sure to book the most comfortable seats or a couchette to sleep.
Enjoy a trip on an InterCity train within Romania. These routes normally run on weekdays, but are worth taking for the modern look and more comfortable travel.
Reserve a sleeping compartment for a longer trip. Some single compartments are available on international trips.
Take a taxi from Gara de Nord in Bucharest. This station is located 3 miles from downtown museums and restaurants.
Walk to your hotel from the Predeal Railway Station, which is centrally located.
Take the metro in Bucharest if you're light on luggage. Go to station 'Piata Victoriei' to visit the Museum of Natural Science.
