Book your tickets online (through Rail Europe's website; see below) or through your tour agent. There may be long lines in Bratislava, and you'll feel more relaxed with everything prepared in advance.
Find the ticket counter to purchase your tickets before you board. In Bratislava, you'll be able to find an English speaking attendant easily.
Get a European East Pass for more flexible and affordable travel from Slovakia to Poland. You may also use this pass to travel to Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
Book a first class seat to get some extra room. First class seats aren't much more expensive.
Find a fast train to Poland by checking out the board in your Slovakian train station. Fast trains are shown in red rather than black, or marked 'R.'
Reserve as far in advance as possible, especially for longer trips--these are more likely to sell out than short hops.
Expect to reserve your tickets in advance for high-speed travel between Slovakia and Poland. Since these trains fill up quickly, don't count on being able to buy tickets at the counter immediately prior to departure.
