Decide which city in Romania you will leave from. If you are traveling from a Romanian city other than Bucharest, you will first need to book a trip from your departure city to Bucharest. An interactive rail map for Romania is available on the Rail Europe website.
Choose your destination city. If your destination in Bulgaria is not Sofia (the capital), you may need to book another trip from Sofia to your final destination in Blugaria. Again, Rail Europe's interactive rail maps will be of help.
Choose which class of tickets you want.
Begin booking your ticket(s). Be prepared to supply a name, country of residence and age for each passenger.
Decide how you want your tickets shipped to you. Inside the U.S., you can select 2 to 3 day shipping for about $20 or overnight shipping for about $40. Be prepared to supply your name, address, phone number and email address.
Supply your credit card information, then submit payment. You should receive your tickets by mail within the time frame specified.
Travel on a tight budget. Economy class train tickets get you a standard leisure seat and access to the bar and dining car. These tickets are 100% exchangeable and refundable up to 10 days before your departure date.
Splurge on comfort. 'Comfort' tickets entitle you to a larger, reclining first-class seat, sleeper (shared compartment) accommodations on overnight trips, and access to the dining/bar car where food and beverages may be purchased. These tickets are exchangeable or refundable up to 3 days before date of departure.
