Instructions

  1. Learn About Train Travel From Bucharest to Craiova

    • 1

Go to Romanian State Railway website. Locate the 'Timetable Services' area on the left side of the page.

    • 2

Enter the date you would like to travel from the drop-down menu. Type 'Bucuresti' in the 'From' area and 'Craiova' in the 'To' area. (Be sure to spell the city names correctly, or just type 'Buc' and 'Cra.') Leave the 'Via' field blank unless you would like to stop off at another Romanian city en route.

    • 3

Access the drop-down menus on the next page. If you have only typed partial names in the 'To' and/or 'From' fields, you will then need to select the correct names from the 'Stations' drop-down menus.

    • 4

Select the right station. Even if you have typed Bucuresti, you will need to use the menu to select the Bucuresti Nord station--this is the main train station in Bucharest. (If you leave it at the default setting, Bucuresti Baneasa, you won't find any trains to Craiova.)

    • 5

Decide how specific you want your info to be. You do not need to fill out any of the other fields on this page, but you can choose a departure or arrival time ('Departure Interval' or 'Arrival Interval') if you like.

    • 6

Learn about specific trains. The next page takes you to a list of trains running from Bucuresti to Craiova on the date (and time) you selected. There are icons to let you know which trains have first-class compartments, second-class compartments, dining cars, sleeping cars and luggage check-in.
