Sir Keir Rodney Starmer, KCB, QC, MP (born 2 September 1962) is a British politician who has served as Leader of the Opposition and Labour Party Leader since 2020. Starmer has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Holborn and St Pancras since 2015. In the Shadow Cabinet of Jeremy Corbyn, he served as Shadow Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union from 2016 to 2017 and then as Shadow Secretary of State for Brexit from 2017 to 2019. Following Labour's defeat in the 2019 general election, Starmer successfully stood in the subsequent Labour Party leadership election.

An English lawyer from London, Starmer was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2002 and served as Director of Public Prosecutions as the head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for England and Wales from 2008 to 2013.
