    Performance

    • This V-8, 4.1-liter engine puts out 266 horsepower at 5,600 rpm with 278 foot-pounds of torque at 4,000 rpm. It has a double overhead camshaft, four valves per cylinder and a multi-point injection fuel system. The fuel tank capacity is 21.1 gallons. The rear-wheel drive can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 7.9 seconds. The Q45 has ABS bakes and can brake from 60 mph to a full stop in 143 feet. Its road-holding score is .78g. It uses premium unleaded fuel and gets 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. The sports-tuned, front strut suspension and rear multi-link suspension are designed to provide stability in handling, cornering and accelerating.

    Safety

    • Seat restraints, dual airbags and front and rear crumple zones are standard on the 1997 Q45.The computerized traction control system has an integrated, viscous slipped differential that monitors the rear wheels and automatically throttles down the engine. The theft deterrence system immobilizes the ignition. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) assigned a "marginal" rating for frontal crash tests and didn't conduct side impact studies.
