Yamaha Jog Specs

Yamaha introduced its Jog scooter in 1983 as the Jog CE50, and that remained the basic look through two other models---the CG50 and the CY50--in the United States. Though the materials and operation of the Jog changed a little through the years, the basic look remained the same. In 2010, the Yamaha Jog is still a competitive brand on the market.
  1. Build

    • Its 2010 model, the Yamaha Jog R is light at 179 lbs. by modern, two-seater scooter standards and comes in white or blue. Its seat sits 30.3 inches high. Adjustable seats may rise much higher. Handlebars and all, it is 41.9 inches tall, 68.5 inches long and 26.6 inches wide. It needs just 5.2 inches of clearance.

The 12-inch aluminum wheels are wide for on- or off-road travel. The front tire is a 110/70-12, while the rear is bigger, at 120/70-12, giving the back passenger a little more suspension.

    Ride

    • The Jog is powered by a one-cylinder, two-stroke engine capable of 2.74 horsepower at 7,000 rpm. It is air-cooled and automatic, with a fuel capacity of 1.45 gallons. It can be started electrically and with a kick-start. Front (disc) and rear (drum) brakes stop the Jog faster than early models with single rear drums. Riders of the Jog R also enjoy a modern telescopic fork suspension system measuring 70 mm on the front, with a unit swing on the back measuring 60 mm.

    More Details

    • The Jog's belt-driven engine has some kick, with 2.99 cubic inches of displacement, a torque of 2.78 Nm at 7,000 rpm, compression of 11.6:1. Bore is 1.6 inches and stroke is 1.5 inches. That's the same on all of the modern Jogs. It's the flash that may cost you more. Things like adjustable seats, radios and more colorful and swooping body kits can rev up your Jog's image on the street.
