Truck Camper Vs. Travel Trailer

Going on vacation by automobile is a popular way of traveling because it gives you the flexibility to do things at your own pace and can be much cheaper than going by plane or boat. Deciding whether to go by truck camper or with a travel trailer attached to your vehicle depends on your personal traveling needs.
  1. Space

    • A travel trailer will offer more living space and sleeping capacity than a truck camper because a camper is attached onto the bed of your truck and so is limited to the dimensions of your truck bed, whereas a trailer is attached separately.

    Convenience

    • Both the trailer and the camper offer the option of easy removal from your vehicle when you arrive at your destination so that you can then use your truck or car for normal transportation while you are on vacation. The truck camper is much easier to store than the trailer when you are at home because it is smaller. You may need to pay for storage of your trailer if you do not have enough outdoor space on your property.

    Cost

    • According to Lance Camper, truck campers are cheaper to buy than trailers and the insurance is also less expensive. The fuel costs are also likely to be cheaper with a truck camper because it is smaller and therefore will achieve greater gas mileage than the heavier option of a trailer.
