About the English Channel Tunnel

The English Channel Tunnel, which is also known as the Chunnel, is a three tunnel railway that connects England and France.The journey across the English Channel once took a few hours by ferry. Since the completion of the Chunnel project, you can board one of the trains to travel under the English Channel and the journey sometimes takes only 20 minutes.

    Fun Facts

    • Two boring machines dug out the pathway for the tunnel, one starting in France and one staring work in England, and headed for the halfway point. A contest arose between England and France to see which country could reach the midpoint first. England was the winner.
