Unpack the ladder bike rack and perform any basic assembly as needed. Oftentimes it may be necessary to tighten connections left loose during transport. It may also be necessary to extend the bike support arms and tighten them in place. A pair of pliers, adjustable wrench or screwdriver may be used.
Place the bike rack against the rails of the ladder located at the back of the travel trailer. Position the rack so that there will be sufficient clearance between the bottom of the bike wheels and the road when the bikes are mounted on the rack. The arms of the rack support should be facing outward.
Choose a ladder step that is nearest the top tube of the bike rack. Attach the two hooks at the top of the rack to the ladder by tilting the bottom of the rack outward away from the ladder. Attach the hooks over the ladder and lower the bottom of the rack back in place.
Secure the bottom of the rack to a step or side rails with adjustable straps. Pull the straps tight so that the rack does not move when you pull against it.
Place a bike on the rack, with the upper tube of the bike resting on the support arms. Place a second bike on the support arms facing in the opposite direction. This is to help balance the bikes on the rack.
