How to Get a Car Ride to Work

Commuting to work can be a hassle, particularly when you face traffic, angry drivers and escalating gas prices. One way to combat these irritations, and to do your part to reduce the number of vehicles on the road, is to ride with neighbors or co-workers. This arrangement will provide you with company to make your drive to and from work more pleasant, and it will also save you money and help reduce traffic and air pollution if you do it regularly.

  Ask your neighbors where they work to see if any work near you. If they do, ask them if you can ride with them.

  Offer to help pay for gas and to meet them at their house in the morning and at their place of employment at the end of the day to minimize the inconvenience for them.

  Ask the neighbor if he would like to set up a regular carpool so that you can take turns driving.

  Ask your spouse or significant other for a ride. If he or she cannot bring you, ask a friend or relative. Offer to reciprocate in the future.

  Call a co-worker who lives near you and ask for a ride to work the next day. Offer to pay for gas or coffee as a token of appreciation.
