How to Find Trucks for Loads

Companies that work in the shipping business often need to find reliable trucks to meet firm loading needs. To get the most out of your truck, make sure it comes with a dolly and a ramp if you do not already have the equipment. With the expanding popularity of the Internet, you can find trucks to perform your heavy load jobs without having to leave your office.

Contact a dealer. Truck Paper (see "Resources") lists dealers by state or province. Search for a load truck dealer by location or manufacturer. Select whether you are looking for a light-, medium- or heavy-load truck. You can also search for truck dealers based on the types of work you perform, such as hauling cars, beverages or farming equipment. If you want the truck to perform digging, lifting or dumping, you can search on those categories as well. You will have to register with a username and password to search for dealers. Contact dealers directly, and negotiate payment and usage terms for the truck.

Look through classified ads at the back of magazines like "Automotive," "Chevy Truck World" and "My Area Trader." After you find a truck for loads that meets your needs, telephone the truck owner directly. You can also search your local newspaper's classified-ads section for available trucks. Many of these ads are made by individual residents, with whom you might be able to negotiate a more rewarding deal.
