Log onto the website of a company that offers tractor-trailers for rent. U-haul, Budget, and Ryder are some companies that offer truck rental for both local and one-way moves. Each company offers drastically different prices, so shop around before choosing one specific company to go with.
Select the size of truck you will need to complete your move. Trailers are available in a variety of sizes from standard trucks, vans and small 10-foot moving trucks all the way up to a 24-foot moving truck for larger households. Use the estimate guide to determine what size is best for you. Click on the truck that you want to rent.
Type in the date of the move. You have the option to select the date and time of pickup, allowing you to start packing the truck at your convenience. Click "continue" once you type in the date and time. If your move is local, select the drop-off date and time.
Select whether the move is a one-way move or local move. If the move is local, select the estimated number of miles for the trip. Click "continue" to carry on filling out the information.
Select your pick-up and drop-off locations. Find the company location which is closest to your home. If you are completing a local move, you will have to drop the truck off at the same location. If the move is to another town or state, select the drop-off location closest to your new home.
Type in your name and contact information. Your home address should match the address on your driver's license that you use at the time of pickup. Also, provide your phone number and email address so you can receive confirmation by email.
Fill out your credit card information. Credit cards are not charged at the time of reservation; however, the card is used to place a hold on a moving truck. This will ensure that the truck is available for the time and date you set.
Click "complete" to complete this process. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address typed. It will include your name and address as well as the pick-up and drop-off information.
